Graham Nash, best known for his time with the folk rock band Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, is a respected and well-known singer recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. It was on a 1966 American tour of his first band the Hollies that Nash met David Crosby and Steve Stills. Singing a song together at a party at Cass Elliot’s house, Nash discovered the three of them made a unique, beautiful harmony. He subsequently left the Hollies and formed Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Later, the trio became a quartet when Neil Young joined the band.
Graham Nash contributed several beloved songs for CSNY, including “Marrakesh Express,” “Wasted on the Way,” “Our House,” and “Teach Your Children Well.” His rich, soothing vocals and songwriting talent contributed to the band’s popularity and commercial success in the late 1960s and 1970s. While the band members continued to release their separate projects, their success as a group was enviable. Although egos occasionally clashed and the four sometimes split up in various combinations, Graham Nash was often the glue holding them together when drug abuse threatened to ruin lives. To this day, CSNY reunites for tours and special events.
